im following you on this to decide if i should buy ableton 8 or not. Ive got 7 but dont use it for production one bit at all. I tried sequencing with it and it was a blast, but not hands on enough for me.

to add...

music is about getting LIVE! Jump up and get in to the music! I dont know if I could produce sitting at a keyboard and clicking in to place. I make my tracks by jamming on the gear and rehearsing it till its perfect.

Thats right those live PAs are all sick because you can form the music to the crowd as you make it. Give them just what they want when they want it.

If you produce on gear, you can just have that crowd in your head.

We're all dancers here.

Im running an all hardware set up. I don't know if running so much gear live off of the computer will work. Being a knob tweeker I dont like samples and need all that hands on to make it sound right on the fly.

Strongly considering getting ableton 8.

I want to say that the drug use associated with Rap and Rock music is pretty blatant but they are drugs looked upon as socially acceptable by the majority.

How many rap / rock are about beer & pot? Right? How many dance tracks are about club drugs? Exactly. In fact, how many rap songs nowdays are about club drugs?!?

Some things in this country make no sense.

I think its a conspiracy. People that listen to dance music aren't consumer machines as much as the standard radio listener. They like the music for what it is, not the products it advertizes or the lifestyle the vocals promote. Us people aren't good for business so they are squashed before they are created by big business. We arent part of the machine...

Until next time, I'll be listening.

Thanks for your comment....I try to use vinyl when I can but it is becoming more difficult as time goes by....especially cost wise. I think vinyl will die a quick death. RIP.

Dave,
I understand the frustration alot of labels (most of which have either gone-under or gone completely digital) in trying to "keep vinyl alive" (and believe me I'm with you, it almost makes me sick to my stomach when I STILL walk-in with a record bag, although not carrying AS-many records as when I first started spinning) and another DJ walks-in with JUST a book of CD's. I'm NOT anti-digital (as I do worry about "wear" on my vinyl) but I do definitely PREFER the FEEL of vinyl and still have a hard-time adapting to CDJ's and what-not. I think Serato (with the time-coded vinyl, could be considered a viable alternative, since I myself have used it and been fairly impressed with the overall results.) I don't even currently own turntables, and therefore whenever I have a chance (or access to turntables) I try and record a few of my EP's and LP's into .WAV format (since it's bad enough losing the higher fidelity going from Vinyl to Digital, let alone losing a majority of the dynamics when compressing songs to .MP3 format.) How are you and Rich fairing in this game (especially when you both have gigs?)
